Voice Changes Disorders

Voice changes disorders refer to conditions that affect the quality, pitch, volume or tone of an individual’s voice. Voice change disorders can be caused by factors such as vocal cord strain, overuse, infections, neurological issues or underlying conditions like thyroid problems or laryngeal cancer. Common symptoms include hoarseness, loss of voice, a raspy or strained sound.

Common Conditions of Voice Change Disorders:

Laryngitis: Inflammation of the larynx, usually due to viral infections or vocal strain, leading to hoarseness or loss of voice.

Vocal Cord Nodules/Polyps: Benign growths on the vocal cords, often caused by vocal overuse, that lead to breathy voice.

Vocal Cord Paralysis: Loss of movement in one or both vocal cords, often due to nerve damage, resulting in breathy voice.

Reflux Laryngitis: A voice disorder that occurs when stomach fluids, it includes acids & enzymes and irritate the vocal folds.

Spasmodic Dysphonia: A neurological disorder causing involuntary muscle spasms in the vocal cords, leading to strained.
